Vice Chancellor, NLUD
Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai serves as the Vice Chancellor of National Law University Delhi. He is equipped with more than thirty years of professional experience as an author, researcher, teacher and administrator. He has previously served as the Vice Chancellor at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, and Registrar at National Law University Delhi. He has also served as Senior Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (Law), Chair Professor at K.L Arora Chair in Criminal Law, and Chairperson of the Centre for Criminology & Victimology at National Law University Delhi and as Professor (Law and development) & Chairperson at the Centre for Criminal Justice Administration, National Law Institute University, Bhopal. In addition to a Master’s specialisation in Criminology and Criminal Justice, he holds a doctorate in victimology and a post-doctorate in criminal justice from Leicester University, U.K., as a Commonwealth Fellow at the Department of Criminology, Leicester University, U.K. He served as convenor of the Committee for Reforms in Criminal Laws set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, tasked with spearheading historic reforms in criminal law in India. Prof. Bajpai is also the nominated Member of the Delhi Legal Service Committee of the High Court of Delhi. He is a Member of the Advisory Board for Development of Legal Education & Legal Profession of the Bar Council of India and a Member of the Standing Committee of the Legal Education Committee of the Bar Council of India.
Registrar, NLUD
Risham Garg is a Professor of Law and Registrar at the National Law University Delhi. He has been teaching and researching in the areas of insolvency and bankruptcy law, international commercial law, arbitration, and business regulation for over two decades. He has been associated with NLU Delhi since 2009 and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Centre for Transnational Commercial Law (CTCL), Executive Director of the Centre for Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), and Director of the NLU Delhi Foundation. He has worked extensively with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), the Ministry of External Affairs, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and several professional bodies on questions relating to insolvency law reform, cross-border insolvency, and commercial regulation. He currently serves as the Government of India’s nominee to UNIDROIT and is a member of various national task forces and advisory bodies on insolvency and business law. Professor Garg has played a leading role in developing insolvency law education and professional training in India. He has designed and directed specialised diploma programmes, conducted training programmes for judges and insolvency professionals, and has spearheaded the Arun Jaitley International Insolvency and Bankruptcy Moot since its inception in 2017. He has also been a visiting faculty member at institutions including the Delhi Judicial Academy, LBSNAA, IITs, IIMs, and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. His recent research focuses on cross-border insolvency, transnational dispute resolution, and emerging issues in commercial law. He has collaborated with leading international institutions and scholars, including projects on the insolvency of crypto exchanges and comparative insolvency law. Through his academic, policy, and institutional contributions, he continues to be actively engaged in shaping the development of commercial and insolvency law in India.
